Sanghoon SHIN is a senior foreign attorney and expert advisor at BKL. He began his career at the Korea Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) as a public official in 1998. While with the KFTC, Mr. Shin worked in the International Cooperation Division, Mergers and Acquisitions Team, and Institutional Improvement Planning Task Force, planning and implementing various policies. Since joining BKL in 2007, Mr. Shin has advised on numerous matters involving cartels, unfair trade practices, abuse of dominant market position, and unfair support provided to related parties, with particular focus on advising multinational corporations operating in Korea. Mr. Shin has served as a legal advisor to the Korea Creative Content Agency. Mr. Shin regularly contributes to fair trade journals, and often gives lectures on fair trade at companies and law schools. Mr. Shin passed the 40th Civil Service Exam in 1996 and earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School in 2004.
Kee Won SHIN is a foreign attorney at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (BKL) who has been focusing on corporate legal affairs, capital market and fair trade for the last 20 years. Mr. Shin graduated from Yale University and earned his J.D. from Columbia Law School. Since he passed the New York bar exam in 2002, he has worked in New York and Hong Kong offices of Davis, Polk & Wardwell and Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, as well as Lee & Ko LLC in Seoul.
Hyun A KIM is a partner at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC. Her practice includes business combination, cartel, abuse of dominant market position, and unfair transaction. In 2018, she was awarded as “Recommended Lawyer” in Antitrust and Competition by the Legal 500.
Ms. Kim has lectured in the academic world based on her experience, on corporate law, intellectual property rights, and Monopoly Regulation and Fair Trade Act. She previously served as vice chair of the IPBA Antitrust Committee, and is currently a member of IBA Antitrust Committee Cartel Working Group. She also made various contributions, including in the GCR Handbook of Competition Agencies (2016-2018), GCR Getting the Deal Through (Dominance, 2012), and International Comparative Legal Guide to Competition Litigation (2010-2015), Chambers – Doing Business In 2020.
