March 22, 2026 - The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM; Chairman and CEO James Kim) successfully hosted its flagship annual event, the AMCHAM Inaugural Ball 2026, on March 20 at the Grand Hyatt Seoul in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc., bringing together over 800 distinguished guests from across the business, government, and diplomatic communities.

As AMCHAM’s largest annual gathering and one of its most anticipated events, the black-tie gala served as both a premier networking platform and a formal occasion to mark the inauguration of AMCHAM’s 2026 Board of Governors. The evening provided an opportunity to introduce the new leadership and share their vision and strategic direction for the year ahead.

Held under the theme “AI Closer to You,” this year’s event highlighted the transformative role of emerging technologies in shaping the future of business and cross-border collaboration. At the same time, it underscored that as innovation accelerates, strong partnerships and trusted relationships remain essential to driving sustainable growth.

The program opened with welcoming remarks by AMCHAM Chairman & CEO James Kim, who emphasized the importance of collaboration in an era of rapid technological change. He noted that while AI is reshaping industries, the strength of the U.S.-Korea economic partnership continues to be built on people, trust, and shared values.

He also highlighted the significance of the occasion, noting that it coincides with the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States - a meaningful milestone that reflects the enduring spirit of innovation and partnership bringing the two countries closer together.

“We are pleased to co-host this event with Qualcomm this year,” he added. “Collaboration with global technology leaders like Qualcomm will play a critical role in accelerating next-generation innovations, including AI, and in creating new opportunities for bilateral economic growth.” He further emphasized that AMCHAM will continue to serve as a vital bridge between the two countries, supporting the expansion of cooperation and engagement.

Congratulatory remarks followed from Charge d’Affaires James Heller of the U.S. Embassy Seoul and Minister for Trade Yeo Han-koo, who emphasized the importance of strong U.S.-Korea public-private cooperation in advancing bilateral economic ties and ensuring long-term resilience and shared prosperity.

Representing the evening’s co-host, O.H. Kwon, SVP & President of APAC at Qualcomm and Vice Chairman of AMCHAM’s Board of Governors, delivered a toast highlighting Qualcomm’s leadership in next-generation technologies. He noted that Qualcomm has led innovation in connectivity, high-performance and low-power computing, and edge AI for over four decades, expanding both personal and physical AI across a wide range of devices, including smartphones and PCs. He also emphasized that the Snapdragon X series is setting a new benchmark for the AI PC era through its powerful AI capabilities and energy efficiency.

Kwon further highlighted Qualcomm’s recent announcement at MWC Barcelona of 6G coalition with more than 60 global partners, reaffirming the company’s commitment to working closely with Korea to advance the development of next-generation 6G technologies and ecosystems.

A dedicated demo zone at the venue showcased a range of partner devices powered by the Snapdragon platform, drawing strong interest from attendees. The exhibit offered a firsthand look at how AI technologies are being integrated into real-world devices and services, bringing this year’s theme, “AI Closer to You,” to life.

The evening featured a dynamic program, including auctions and a raffle that added excitement throughout the night. Guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner and premium beverages in a setting designed to foster meaningful dialogue and high-level engagement.

A highlight of the evening was a special live performance by K-pop artist Hwasa, whose dynamic stage presence energized the audience and brought a vibrant close to the program.

2026년 3월 22일 - 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)가 지난 3월 20일 저녁 그랜드 하얏트 서울 호텔에서 퀄컴 테크날러지스, Inc.(Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.)와 공동으로 ‘2026 암참 이사진 취임식(AMCHAM Inaugural Ball 2026)’을 개최했다. 이번 행사는 암참의 최대 연례 행사이자 대표적인 블랙타이 네트워킹 행사로, 주요 기업인과 정부·외교 관계자 등 각계 인사 800여 명이 참석해 성황을 이뤘다.

이어 “그동안 축적된 혁신과 파트너십을 바탕으로 한·미 협력은 앞으로도 더욱 긴밀해질 것.”이라며, “이번 행사를 퀄컴과 함께 개최하게 된 것을 뜻깊게 생각하며, 퀄컴과 같은 글로벌 기술 기업과의 협력이 AI를 비롯한 차세대 기술 혁신을 가속화하고 한·미 경제협력의 새로운 기회를 창출하는 데 중요한 역할을 할 것.”이라고 강조했다. 아울러 암참이 양국 간 가교로서 협력 확대를 지속적으로 뒷받침해 나가겠다고 덧붙였다.
