“2025 Washington Doorknock (June 10 -12)” to Advance Bilateral Cooperation Under New Leadership in Both Nations

 

June 9, 2025 - The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM; Chairman and CEO James Kim) will lead a senior business delegation to Washington, D.C. from June 9 to 12, for its annual Doorknock Program, engaging with key figures from the Trump Administration and U.S. Congress. This year’s visit comes at a critical moment for the U.S.-Korea partnership, as both countries begin new political chapters and navigate shifting global economic dynamics.

With both President Trump and President Lee Jae-myung newly in office, AMCHAM will emphasize the urgency of aligning economic strategies, reinforcing the bilateral alliance, and supporting continued cooperation in strategic sectors. AMCHAM will also advocate for policies that foster a more predictable, fair and transparent business environment in both countries.

AMCHAM Chairman & CEO James Kim said, “This Doorknock is about reaffirming our shared commitment to a strong and resilient U.S.-Korea economic alliance. This year’s delegation will include around 20 senior executives from leading U.S. and Korean companies deeply involved in advancing bilateral economic cooperation. Participating organizations include Amazon Web Services, Bloom Energy, Corning Incorporated, Coupang, Google, Hyundai Motor Group, Kim & Chang, LG CNS, Lockheed Martin, POSCO Group, and Samil PwC. Representing key industries such as advanced manufacturing, digital technology, energy, mobility, aerospace, and finance, these leaders bring a united private-sector voice to strengthen the U.S.-Korea economic partnership.

The delegation will focus on expanding cooperation in key areas, such as AI and semiconductors, where Korea plays a critical role in global supply chains. Delegates will also call for stronger support for Korean investments in the U.S., reduced trade deficits, and policy reforms that enhance Korea’s appeal as a regional headquarters hub.

With Korea set to host the 2025 APEC Summit in Gyeongju, AMCHAM views this visit as a timely opportunity to build momentum for broader regional cooperation. The delegation will advocate for robust U.S. engagement in the Summit and underscore the importance of regulatory alignment across the Asia-Pacific.

2025년 6월 9일 - 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)가 6월 10일부터 12일까지 (미국 현지 시간 기준) 사흘간 미국 워싱턴 D.C.에서 연례 ‘2025 워싱턴 도어녹 (Doorknock)’ 프로그램을 진행한다. 이번 방문은 한국과 미국 양국 모두에서 새 정부가 출범한 이후 처음으로 이뤄지는 민간 경제사절단의 방미 일정으로, 변화하는 글로벌 경제 환경속에서 양국 간 경제 협력의 새로운 방향을 모색하는 중요한 계기가 될 전망이다.

암참 대표단은 백악관, 국무부, 美 의회 등 트럼프 행정부 주요 인사들과 연쇄 면담을 갖고, 반도체·AI 등 첨단 전략 산업 분야의 협력 확대, 공급망 안정화, 무역 및 투자 환경 개선 방안 등에 대해 폭넓게 논의할 예정이다. 암참은 양국이 새로운 경제 정책 기조를 마련하고 있는 시점에서, 민간의 목소리를 통해 실질적인 협력 기반을 다진다는 계획이다.

이번 암참 대표단은 아마존웹서비스, 블룸에너지, 코닝, 쿠팡, 구글, 현대자동차그룹, 김앤장 법률사무소, LG CNS, 록히드마틴, 포스코그룹, 삼일PwC 등 국내에서 활발히 활동 중인 주요 글로벌 기업의 고위 임원 20여 명으로 구성됐다. 첨단 제조, 디지털 기술, 에너지, 모빌리티, 헬스케어, 국방, 금융 등 다양한 산업을 대표하는 리더들이 함께하며, 양국 간 실질적이고 지속 가능한 경제 협력 강화를 위한 공동 메시지를 전달할 예정이다.

한편 암참은 오는 10월 경주에서 개최되는 APEC 정상회의를 앞두고, 이번 도어녹을 통해 미국 정부의 적극적인 참여를 촉구하고, 아시아·태평양 지역 내 규제 조화와 경제 협력 확대의 필요성을 강조할 계획이다.
