AMCHAM Leads High-Level Engagement as Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy Visits Korea 

Advancing U.S.-Korea economic cooperation through critical dialogue on energy security and sustainability, reaffirming AMCHAM’s leadership with the “Buy America” initiative

March 25, 2025 - The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM; Chairman and CEO James Kim) is honored to host the official visit of Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy to Korea on March 25-26. During this pivotal visit, Governor Dunleavy and his delegation will engage with key Korean government officials, senior leaders of AMCHAM member companies to strengthen commercial and strategic partnerships between the United States and Korea.

As the leading advocate of the U.S. business community in Korea, AMCHAM is proud to serve as a vital bridge between the two nations. AMCHAM has arranged high-level meetings with influential stakeholders, including Charge d’Affaires Joseph Y. Yun of the U.S. Embassy, Acting President Han Duck-soo, MOTIE (Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) Minister Ahn Duk-geun, and senior executives from leading Korean conglomerates such as SK Group, POSCO International, Hanwha Group, and SeAH Steel.

Governor Dunleavy’s visit comes at a critical moment, as the importance of U.S.-Korea economic cooperation continues to grow. Accompanying the Governor are representatives from Glenfarne Group, the majority owner and lead developer of the Alaska LNG project, and the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation (AGDC), who will engage in high-level discussions to explore new opportunities for strengthening energy collaboration between the two countries. The delegation will also meet with Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon and KOGAS (Korea Gas Corporataion) CEO & President Choi Yeon-hye.

The delegation’s engagement also aligns with AMCHAM’s “Buy America” campaign, which emphasizes the importance of U.S. products and services in strengthening economic resilience and expanding bilateral trade.

2025년 3월 25일 - 주한미국상공회의소(암참; 회장 겸 대표이사 제임스 김)는 3월 25일, 26일 양일 진행되는 마이크 던리비(Mike Dunleavy) 알래스카 주지사의 공식 방한 일정을 주최하고 동행한다. 이번 방문 기간 동안 던리비 주지사와 대표단은 한국 정부 주요 인사 및 주요 암참 회원사 대표들과 만나 한·미 경제협력과 전략적 파트너십 강화 방안을 논의할 예정이다.

암참은 한국 內 미국 기업을 대표하는 기관으로서 양국 경제를 잇는 핵심 가교 역할을 꾸준히 수행해 왔다. 이번 던리비 주지사의 방한 일정 역시 이러한 역할의 연장선에서 조셉 윤 주한미국대사대리, 한덕수 대통령 권한대행 국무총리, 안덕근 산업통상자원부 장관, 그리고 SK그룹, 포스코인터내셔널, 한화그룹, 세아그룹 등 국내 주요 기업 최고경영진과의 고위급 회동을 주선했다.

이번 방한은 한·미 경제 협력의 중요성이 그 어느 때보다 높아진 시점에 이루어진 것으로 더욱 주목받고 있다. 던리비 주지사와 함께 알래스카 LNG 프로젝트의 협력사인 글렌판 그룹(Glenfarne Group)과 알래스카 가스라인 개발공사(AGDC) 관계자들도 동행해, 양국 간 에너지 협력 확대 방안을 논의할 예정이다. 대표단은 이와 함께 김동연 경기도지사 및 최연혜 한국가스공사 사장과의 면담도 가질 계획이다.
