Yulchon Rehires Former Prosecutor and Presidential Office Counsel Yung Sang LEE
to Strengthen Cross-Border Investigations and Corporate Risk Advisory Service

Press
Release - Yulchon announced the return of former senior prosecutor and
corporate investigations lawyer Yung Sang LEE as a partner in the firm’s Global
White-Collar Defense Team.
Lee
rejoins Yulchon after serving in a series of senior public and private sector
roles, including the Office of the President. His practice will focus on
criminal and regulatory investigations, compliance, and multinational client
services.
Widely
regarded as one of Korea’s leading corporate investigations practitioners, Lee
brings nearly two decades of experience spanning prosecution, government
policy, multinational corporate compliance, as well as private corporate
practice.
Prior
to rejoining Yulchon, Lee served as International Legal Affairs Secretary and
Legal Affairs Secretary at the Office of the President. He also served as Vice
President at Coupang, where he advised on corporate legal risk, compliance, and
regulatory matters. Earlier in his career, Lee held various prosecutorial
positions, including at the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office, the Ministry of
Justice, and the Seoul Central District Prosecutors’ Office.
“Today’s
corporate risk environment requires more than traditional litigation
capability,” said Seok Hoon KANG, Chairman and Managing Partner. “Clients
increasingly need counsel who can integrate investigations, regulatory
response, compliance strategy, government policy insight, and cross-border
coordination into a single risk-management framework. Mr. Lee is uniquely
positioned to deliver that level of strategic and international perspective."
The
firm noted that Lee’s background is particularly differentiated in the Korean
legal market, combining experience across the prosecution service, government,
private practice, and multinational corporate environments. His experience
includes handling international criminal cooperation matters with the US
Department of Justice, extradition, asset recovery, anti-money laundering
matters, and investigations involving overseas funds and cartel conduct.
During
his previous tenure at Yulchon, Lee advised on a range of complex corporate
investigations and crisis-management matters, including cases involving
parallel investigations in Korea and overseas jurisdictions, conflicting
regulatory standards across multiple countries, and matters concerning alleged
involvement of foreign headquarters in domestic investigations.
Lee is
also expected to play a significant role in Yulchon’s expanding cross-border
investigations and global compliance work, as multinational enforcement
cooperation and international regulatory scrutiny continue to intensify.
Yulchon added that Lee has consistently received strong client feedback for his hands-on approach to investigations and crisis management, particularly from multinational companies that valued his clear communication and practical problem-solving capabilities.
