U.S. biz lobby discusses economic outlook with BOK board
member

Kang Yoon-seung, Yonhap News Agency - The American Chamber
of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM) said Thursday it hosted a roundtable with a board
member of South Korea's central bank to discuss the domestic and global
economic outlook, ahead of the release of its special financial report next
week.
During the event, Lee Soo-hyung, a member of the Bank of
Korea (BOK) Monetary Policy Board, said South Korea's economy is expected to
expand 2 percent this year, "supported by strong semiconductor exports and
a gradual recovery in private consumption," according to AMCHAM.
She also noted Asia's fourth-largest economy faces
uncertainties stemming from fluctuations in global oil prices, exchange rates
and overseas demand.
"Korea stands at a pivotal moment to strengthen its
position as a global financial hub," AMCHAM Chairman James Kim said in a
release. "By advancing regulatory alignment and improving the overall
business environment, Korea can unlock its full potential as a leading regional
headquarters destination."
Kim said AMCHAM plans to publish the Korea Financial Hub
Agenda report next week, outlining key policy recommendations to further
support South Korea's competitiveness.
"We remain committed to working closely with the
Korean government and key stakeholders, including the Bank of Korea, to enhance
market confidence and attract greater global investment."
