AMCHAM
launches ‘Buy America’ campaign to bolster US-Korea ties
By
Chung Hye-lim, The Korea Herald - The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea has
launched its “Buy America” campaign to encourage Korean companies to purchase
more US products.
By leveraging its
extensive business network, AMCHAM aims to expand the procurement of US energy,
automobiles, agricultural products and other key goods, further strengthening
trade and economic cooperation between the two nations.
The campaign follows AMCHAM
Chairman and CEO James Kim’s commitment at the “Korea-US Business Night” in
Washington, DC, on Feb. 19, hosted by Chey Tae-won, chair of SK Group and the
Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry. At the event, Kim emphasized AmCham's
dedication to fostering a more balanced and mutually beneficial trade
relationship between the US and Korea.
As Korean investments in the US continue to grow, AMCHAM is taking proactive steps to broaden trade cooperation by encouraging Korean firms to increase their procurement of US goods.
“Addressing trade imbalances and strengthening economic ties between the US and Korea are critical objectives,” stated Kim. “Through ‘Buy America,’ AmCham will collaborate with major Korean and American companies to expand imports of US products, creating mutually beneficial opportunities.”
With trade and
investment discussions between Washington and Seoul gaining momentum, the
institute is working closely with key Korean conglomerates and US policymakers
to explore strategic initiatives that reinforce bilateral economic cooperation.
In the coming weeks, it will announce new corporate partnerships to further
drive the campaign’s objectives.
