    About the Speakers
    • Kumsun Kim, Senior Corporate Counsel, Microsoft Korea

      With a mission to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more, Kumsun Kim provides legal support to Microsoft’s enterprise business in Korea, supporting regulatory compliance of the company and its customers. Her main job is to help regulators and customers better understand the Microsoft AI and Cloud through the lenses of data protection, privacy, cybersecurity, ultimately aiming at fostering trust and integrity in the market. By engaging with regulators and customers navigating the complex and ever-evolving regulatory landscape, she helps to translate market feedback into actionable insights for legislative and enforcement bodies, thereby promoting a balanced and effective regulatory framework. Prior to Microsoft, she worked at law firms in Korea, where she managed privacy, software license, copyright related matters and M&A transactions.
    • Sun Hee Kim, Yulchon LLC, Partner

      Sun Hee Kim is a partner at Yulchon who focuses her practice on Data, AI and ICT sector.

      Ms. Kim has extensive experience advising clients on cross-border data transfers, data management and protection strategies, data breach incidents, and responding to government investigations.

      She also actively advises global companies relating to various regulatory issues in the technology sector, including telecommunications business, e-commerce, fintech, and AI.

      She has been recognized by Legal 500 as Leading Individual in the area of TMT, and by Who's Who Legal as National Leader in the field of Data.

      Ms. Kim currently serves and the Co-Chair of AMCHAM’s ICT Committee. She is also actively involved in the International Bar Association as an Officer of IBA’s Asia Pacific Regional Forum. She is a Member of Presidential Committee on the Digital Platform Government (My Data Task Force), and also serves as a member of Telecommunications Dispute Resolution Committee of the Korea Communications Commission.
    • Boeun Chang, Professor, Hankuk University of Foreign Studies

      Professor Boeun Chang is a leading expert in civil law, consumer protection, and data privacy. She holds a Ph.D. in Law (summa cum laude) from Seoul National University and an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, with a focus on antitrust and health law. Her professional journey includes over a decade as an attorney at Kim & Chang, specializing in health, antitrust & competition, and product liability & consumer claims. Currently, she serves as a professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies and has been a visiting scholar at Georgetown Law School and Queen Mary University of London.

      Professor Chang has authored over 30 academic papers and multiple books on topics such as AI and law, data privacy, and consumer protection. She is an active board member of several legal associations, including the Korean Association of Civil Law and the Korea Personal Information Protection Law Association. Her accolades include the Outstanding Young Scholar Award from the Korean Consumer Law Society in 2021.
