    MOFA’s Director General for International Economic Affairs, Ms. Kim Jihee, will outline the Korean Government’s key priorities for APEC 2025, including the upcoming Senior Officials’ Meetings (SOM2 and SOM3) and the Economic Leaders Week. She will also highlight opportunities for private sector engagement and discuss core themes for public-private partnerships throughout Korea’s APEC host year.

    About the Speaker
    • Ms. Kim Jihee, Director-General for International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)

      Ms. Kim Jihee is the Director-General for International Economic Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of Korea. Born on October 16, 1971, she has built a distinguished diplomatic career with over 25 years of experience in international relations, economic diplomacy, and foreign service.
      Ms. Kim has led numerous divisions within MOFA, including as Director of the North American and EU Economic Affairs Division, Director of the Human Resources Policy Division, and Director for Policy Planning. She also served as Assistant Secretary for Protocol Affairs in the Office of the President. Her overseas assignments include serving as Consul at the Korean Consulate General in Shenyang, China; Counselor at Korea’s Permanent Delegation to the OECD in France; and Minister-Counselor at the Korean Embassy in Japan. She also spent time as a Visiting Researcher at Keio University in Tokyo.
      In October 2022, Ms. Kim was appointed Deputy Director-General for Bilateral Economic Affairs at MOFA, before being promoted in February 2024 to her current role as Director-General for International Economic Affairs. In this capacity, she plays a central role in shaping Korea’s international economic policy and advancing multilateral cooperation, including efforts related to APEC and other key global platforms.
      After earning her B.A. in International Relations from Seoul National University in 1996, Ms. Kim joined MOFA in 1997. She later received her M.S. in International Relations from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., in 2001, further deepening her expertise in global affairs.
      Ms. Kim is widely respected for her deep knowledge of international economic policy, strategic planning, and diplomacy across Asia, North America, and Europe.
