Mr Woosuk Kenneth Choi is the deputy editor of Strategic Planning News Desk at the Chosun Daily Newspaper. He is currently serving as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Journalist Association of Korea. He has been the President of Korea Automotive Journalist Association since 2014. He is elected as an Executive Board Member of the International Press Institute based in Vienna, Austria.
In 2005 Mr. Choi is the founding member of the Asian Leadership Conference run by the Chosun Media Group. The Asian Leadership Conference has become one of the most premium gatherings for international experts on politics, business, technologies, etc.
Prior to his current poisition, he was deputy editor of business desk at the newspaper, covering automotive, ship building, trade, etc. He was the Editor of Political News at TV Chosun. He was the Blue House correspondent covering news regarding the President of Korea. He recently traveled with the President to the US and China for the summit meetings.
He was also responsible for business and industry news prior to his post in the Political News. He was in charge of market coverage in global automotive news as well as foreign investments around the world.
In 2010 he was in charge of launching the Chosunilbo’s broadcasting business and forging Chosun’s alliance with MTV in the US and Chinese TV networks such as Chungqing TV, Guangdung TV, CICTV, etc.
Mr Choi was also a Washington Correspondent from 2005~2009. He covered the North Korean nuclear crisis, Korea-US bilateral relationship, Korea-US FTA, Korea-China FTA and East Asian geopolitics. He travelled with the White House Press Corp to cover the US President’s visit to the Middle East, etc.
Since he joined the Chosunilbo in 1992, Mr Choi has covered political affairs, social affairs, and business and economics for the past 25 years. He holds a BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and MPA from Harvard Kennedy School. He also holds an MA in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Media Leader of the Davos Forum in Switzerland.
