    EVENT DESCRIPTION
    AMCHAM is pleased to host a Special Luncheon with Minister Yeo Han-koo, providing AMCHAM members with an exclusive opportunity to engage in high-level dialogue on the future of Korea–U.S. trade relations.

    During the session, Minister Yeo will share the government’s policy direction on key Korea–U.S. trade issues for 2026, including major challenges and priorities shaping the bilateral trade agenda. The discussion will also address the evolving regulatory environment and its implications for businesses operating across both markets.

    This special session will offer valuable insights into Korea’s trade policy outlook and regulatory strategies, fostering meaningful exchange between policymakers and the AMCHAM business community.

    About the Speaker
    • Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo

      He has served as the 6th Minister of Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy since June 2025.

      From 2023 to June 2025, he was a Senior Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics, where he focused on international trade and economic policy. Previously, from August 2021 to May 2022, he served as the 3rd Minister of Trade at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, playing a key role in shaping Korea’s trade strategy.

      Between July 2020 and 2021, he worked as Secretary to the President at the Executive Office of the President of South Korea, supporting presidential-level policy coordination. Earlier, from 2017 to March 2019, he was appointed Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States, where he was responsible for advancing bilateral trade and investment relations.

      From 2016 to 2017, he served as Director-General for FTA Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, overseeing Korea’s free trade agreement negotiations and implementation. Prior to that, between 2010 and 2013, he worked as a Senior Investment Officer at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), gaining extensive experience in international finance and investment.

      From 2007 to 2010, he led trade negotiations as Director of the Free Trade Agreement Team at the Ministry of Knowledge Economy. He began his public service career after passing the 36th Korean Civil Service Examination in 1992.

      In terms of education, he earned an MBA in General Management from Harvard Business School (2002–2004) and an MPA in International Trade and Finance from the Harvard Kennedy School (2000–2002). He completed his undergraduate studies with a BA in Business Administration from Seoul National University (1988–1992).
