AMCHAM Hosts the 11th AMCHAM Innovation Camp with eBay Korea at Ajou University

?September 20, 2017 ? The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM Korea) held “The 11th AMCHAM Innovation Camp” in partnership with eBay Korea at Ajou University on September 20, 2017. The AMCHAM delegates, comprised of eight representatives from leading American and Korean companies, met with around 100 university students from Ajou University to share insight about how to improve their prospects in the global job market.

 

Prior to the event, Lee Joong Bok, eBay Korea’s Team Leader of the Cross-Border Trade (CBT) delivered a presentation on the topic of “Access to the Global Marketplace with eBay.” The presentation covered global and cross border e-commerce as well as opportunities for businesses to expand exports using online channels, such as eBay.

 

The main event began with opening remarks by Acting President Hee Sug Ryu of Ajou University, as well as congratulatory remarks by James Kim, Chairman & CEO of AMCHAM, and O-Eun Lee, Head of Government Relations at eBay Korea. Mr. Lee stated, “I hope today’s lecture on online commerce will help nurture the young entrepreneurs towards the global market.”

 

Jeffrey Jones, Chairman of AMCHAM Board of Governors and Foundation Chairman of Partners for the Future Foundation, began the first session of presentations by introducing the presenters. He also expressed his gratitude for the participating mentors and students and the success of another Innovation Camp. “This is a great opportunity for not only students but also mentors to learn and share valuable experiences,” Chairman Jones stated. “I am confident today will be a great experience for all of us.”

 

Session 1 featured presentations by Dong-Wook (Dave) Oh (Country Manager & IM Korea Lead of Pfizer Korea), James Jung-Hwon Chun (Country Representative Director at Enterprise Service Korea A DXC Technology Company) and Michael Conlan (President of Amer Sports Korea Ltd.). Each delivered a presentation about skills necessary for success at global companies and planning successful careers in the future.

 

In Session 2, each of the seven AMCHAM delegates met with smaller groups of students to have more personal conversations about entering the international work force. Mentors included Jeffrey Jones (Chairman of AMCHAM Board of Governors and Foundation Chairman of Partners for the Future Foundation), Dong-Wook (Dave) Oh (Country Manager & IM Korea Lead of Pfizer Korea), James Jung-Hwon Chun (Country Representative Director at Enterprise Service Korea A DXC Technology Company), Michael Conlan (President of Amer Sports Korea Ltd.), Andy Park (Senior Manager of Government Affairs for Korea and Japan at Herbalife Korea Co., Ltd.), SungUng Lee (Government & Regulatory Affairs Executive at IBM Korea, Inc.) and Kumjoo Huh (Senior Vice President of Kyobo Life Insurance Co., Ltd.).

AMCHAM Innovation Camp

 

In October 2012, AMCHAM launched the AMCHAM Council on Innovation for the Future, to promote innovation in Korea, encouraging closer partnerships between Korean and U.S. companies and supporting Korea’s youth and SMEs. To date, the Council has organized ten “Innovation Camps” at local universities outside of Seoul, including in Chungcheongbuk-do, Busan, Daegu, Gangwon-do, Chungcheongnam-do, Jeollabuk-do, Ulsan and Changwon. At these events, AMCHAM member CEOs mentor Korean students to become global leaders. AMCHAM plans to host more events with the aim of promoting innovation and new business opportunities in Korea. 암참, ‘ 11 이베이코리아와 함께하는 암참 혁신캠프개최


2017 9 20? 주한미국상공회의소 (이하 암참’) 9 20 아주대학교에서 11 이베이코리아와 함께하는 암참 혁신캠프 개최했다. 글로벌 기업의 CEO 임원진들로 구성된 8명의 암참 멘토진은 100명의 아주대학교 학생들과 만나 글로벌 취업시장에서 필요한 역량에 대해 강연했다.

 

행사에 앞서 이베이코리아 이중복 CBT사업팀장이 이베이를 통한 글로벌 시장 진출 기회 주제로 기조강연을 전달했다. 팀장은 글로벌 전자상거래와 이베이 등의 온라인 채널을 통한 기업의 온라인 수출 기회에 관해 설명했다.

 

이어서 아주대학교 유희석 총장 직무대행의 개회사와 제임스 암참 회장 대표이사가 환영사를 전하고, 이베이코리아 이오은 부사장이 축사를 전했다. 이 부사장은 “온라인 수출 창업 특강을 통해 청년창업가들의 혁신 정신이 글로벌로 뻗어나갈 수 있게 돕겠다”고 전했다.

 

제프리 존스 미래의동반자재단 이사장은 이번 혁신 캠프는 학생들뿐만 아니라 멘토진에게도 소중한 경험을 공유하고 배우는 자리가 이라고 전하며, 학생들에게 암참 멘토진들을 소개했다.

 

1부의 글로벌 기업 CEO 특강에서는 오동욱 한국화이자제약 대표이사, 전중훤 한국DXC테크놀로지 엔터프라이즈서비스 대표이사, 마이클 콜란 아머스포츠 코리아 대표이사가 글로벌 기업에서의 성공과 커리어 계획에 필요한 역량에 대해 설명했다.

 

2부의 멘토링 세션에서는 7명의 암참 멘토진이 각각 소규모 그룹의 학생들과 모여 이야기를 나눴다. 제프리 존스 미래의동반자재단 이사장 & 법률사무소 변호사, 오동욱 한국 화이자제약 대표이사, 전중훤 한국DXC테크놀로지 엔터프라이즈서비스 대표이사, 마이클 콜란 아머스포츠 코리아 대표이사, 박영완 한국허벌라이프 이사, 이성웅 한국아이비엠 상무, 허금주 교보생명 상무가 멘토로 참여했다.

암참 혁신캠프
