INVITATION MESSAGE | |||||||||
All around the world we are seeing the rise of the App Economy ? jobs, companies, and economic growth created by the production and distribution of mobile applications that run on smartphones. Since the introduction of the iPhone in 2007, the App Economy has grown from nothing to a powerful economic force that rivals existing industries. The App Economy started in California’s Silicon Valley but has since spread globally, creating investment, education, and jobs. For developing economies like Korea, the App Economy is a great because it’s lean. There’s no huge investment in infrastructure or materials in an App Economy ? talented people and good telecommunications are about all you need to get going.
A broad range of enterprises are searching for workers in Korea who have the ability to develop, maintain, or support mobile applications. Tiny app developers and large mobile broadband providers; tech companies, transportation companies, and financial service companies; multinationals, nonprofits, and the government ? it’s just amazing the types of enterprises that are hiring app developers these days. AMCHAM Korea and the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) invite you to our breakfast meeting with us on May 16 where a new policy report will be released measuring the growing contribution of mobile application development to the Korean economy and outlining the long-term potential and obstacles to growth in the digital sector. The report, “The App Economy in Korea, 2018” measures the thousands of app-related jobs created in Korea, compares the environment for app-related activity in Korea to other locations in Asia, and warns of potential policy pitfalls and regulations that might harm future digital growth and economic prosperity in the country. |
