  MESSAGE FROM CO-CHAIRS

Dear AMCHAM Members,

In the last couple of years, the Korean government has made several changes to the taxation of individuals, both expats who work in Korea, as well as short term business travelers who are here temporarily, either in an individual capacity or as part of a service contract on behalf of an offshore company. These changes have an implication to both to individuals as well as to companies that employ them. In addition, the changes in tax rules, at least with respect to short term business travelers, have led to corresponding changes in visa requirements.

Danielle Suh, head of People Advisory Services at EY, will change these various changes and touch on the implications of these changes to you and your company. In particular, she will address the following topics:

I. New income tax withholding obligation for foreign workers
II. Regulation change on permissible business visitor activities
III. New changes and considerations for flat tax rates
IV. Additional reporting obligations for foreigners

Please join us on Wednesday, May 31st.

Best regards,

AMCHAM Taxation Committee Co-Chairs
Henry An? / Sim Seo / Jay Shim
