  MESSAGE FROM CO-CHAIRS

Dear AMCHAM Members,

Please join the AMCHAM Legal Affairs Committee at this breakfast meeting to discuss the risks faced by manufacturers and developers in the era of Internet of Things (IoT) technology and strategies that will help mitigate those risks. Product manufacturers and software developers of all types are racing to create Internet-connected products with computer software that will allow the products to communicate and operate independently with minimal human involvement. But while this new technology promises great rewards for society and for the manufacturers and developers that create the new products, it also gives rise to a multitude of new liabilities and other critical risks that many manufacturers and developers may be overlooking. Kurt will discuss the broad array of product liability and other risks associated with the development of connected products, and offer some strategies to mitigate those risks. Eric will review the insurance industry’s efforts to assess these new risks and provide insurance products that will cover some of the risks that cannot be eliminated. This session should be useful for those who seek to jumpstart on preparing legal strategies to combat the risks we anticipate with the new technology.

Best regards,

AMCHAM Legal Affairs Committee Co-Chairs
Anthony Chang / David Waters
