  ABOUT THE TOPIC

Over the last decade the world has been eaten by software. Society and the way consumers interact with brands has changed beyond recognition thanks to a wave of tech-driven services like Google, Amazon and Facebook, and newcomers like WhatsApp, Snapchat and Uber. While Silicon Valley is still the center of global tech innovation the Korean government has been injecting around USD $2 billion USD annually into its start-up ecosystem.

In 2016 the Korean government operated K-Startup Grand Challenge, its first initiative to entice foreign entrepreneurs to Korea, with USD $5 million in support and funding on offer. Last year the inaugural program welcomed 40 foreign ventures, out of a pool of 2,400 applicants from 100 countries.

On March 9th we will hear from 3 of those “best of the best” foreign startups. They’ll share how they are bringing new innovations to marketing in Korea, as foreign entrepreneurs. They will also explain how brands can use new technology and social platforms to more efficiently connect with consumers.
