About the Speaker

Michael Chang, Senior Foreign Attorney, Shin & Kim
Topic : Future Korea regulatory landscape related to renewable energy and carbon neutrality

Michael is a senior foreign attorney at Shin & Kim whose principal areas of practice are banking & finance, infrastructure, energy and M&A. He began practice in Melbourne with Arthur Robinson & Hedderwicks in 1996 (now known as Allens). Michael was seconded as a senior associate to Shin & Kim from 2002 to 2008, before returning to Allens Arthur Robinson’s Singapore office. He returned to Shin & Kim in 2010 as a senior foreign attorney. During his time in Korea, he has advised numerous foreign clients in investments in Korea.

Park Taehyun, Director of Energy Technology Division, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy
Topic : Introduction to key technologies that Korean government is focusing on developing for the new energy sector

Taehyun currently serves as the director of Energy Technology Division at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy (MOTIE). He started his practice in the energy sector since 2004 at MOTIE, Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), and the Office of the President. Taehyun earned his Masters in International Development & Economics from the Australian National University.

Kerry Cheung, Director and Energy Attache, US DOE, Seoul
Topic : Carbon reduction technologies for the Korean sector and perspectives on collaboration

Kerry serves as the first Director of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) office and Energy Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in South Korea. He is responsible for advancing U.S. energy, science and technology, and nuclear security and nonproliferation interests in South Korea, representing DOE programs and initiatives, fostering deeper cooperation, and supporting the Chief of Mission and the Embassy.
