Dear AMCHAM Members,

During customs audits, the auditors frequently form a view that the corporate customs-payer violated criminal statutes under the Customs Act and the Foreign Currency Transaction Act as well as other provisions of the law. The major criminal issues which will be discussed during the presentation will include customs duty evasion, false declaration and failure to report offsetting, payment guarantee or third party payment. The presenter will also discuss how to deal with these issues when raised and minimize the risks of violation through establishment of robust internal compliance procedure.
