 TOPIC
“North Korean Refugees - The Transition to Freedom”

Dear AMCHAM Members,

This DPRK Committee is pleased to announce that there will be a special meeting with three refugees from North Korea who will relate to AMCHAM members their story of escaping from North Korea and how they are dealing with life in South Korea and in one case the United States. This will be a unique opportunity to hear firsthand an account of life in North Korea and how some are dealing with the difficulties of the North Korean system. They will also provide their suggestions on how businesses can get more involved with the refugees and assist in the transition to freedom.

The refugees will be introduced by Casey Lartigue, Jr. who is a researcher with Freedom Factory, an economic think tank promoting free market mechanisms and a less regulated economy. Freedom Factory also runs a program to assist the North Korean refugees to adjust to life in the south and in other democratic countries by teaching English and also helping them to understand the economic environment in a free market system.

We look forward to hearing their stories.

Thank you.
Best regards,

AMCHAM DPRK Committee Chair
Jeffrey Jones
