  CO-CHAIRS' MESSAGE

Dear AMCHAM Members,

Everyone is excited by the spirit of a new enterprise. People work hard; new ideas are born and implemented quickly; growth happens and keeps on happening. And every successful company vows to keep the entrepreneurial spirit even as it becomes larger and more successful.

But this is easier said than done. Bureaucracy creeps in; communication lines get tangled; processes evolve out of necessity but don’t always privilege velocity and effectiveness. Experienced hires come along with ideas imported from elsewhere and a sense that “I know how it’s done.” Gradually, sand gets in the gears; slowly, the entrepreneurial spirit is lost, and the startup becomes just another big company.

It doesn’t have to be this way, though. Rob Rosenstein, who grew Agoda from a tiny startup to a multi-billion-dollar company, learned through experience how to keep his company fresh, innovative, tech-savvy, highly competitive, and growing fast. In this talk, he’ll talk about some of the lessons he learned, share some secrets, and advise participants from small and big companies alike on what they can do to keep the spirit of growth and change and the results that come with it.

Sincerely,

AMCHAM Foreign Professionals Committee

Jeremy Everett and Jeffrey Bohn
