 TOPIC

“Multinationals in a World of Epochal Tax Change”

Dear AMCHAM Members,

Dear Taxation Committee Members:

We are very pleased to invite you to attend a breakfast meeting featuring Cym Lowell, a partner with the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery in the U.S. Mr. Lowell is recognized as a leading international tax lawyer and will be speaking on variety of topics relating to the changing global tax landscape including the OECD's Base Erosion and Profit Shifting ("BEPS") project and other important initiatives. Mr. Lowell has been active in the BEPS process and will have participated in the G-20 International Taxation Conference in Tokyo in the prior week. His presentation will be practical in nature.

Multinationals in a World of Epochal Tax Change

The OECD's BEPS project (and initiatives of BRICS countries, UN, developing countries, and IMF/World Bank) threaten radical change to many aspects of the present international tax system. In the transfer pricing ("TP") space, there is potential for change in many aspects of practice well beyond headline changes (such as country-by-country reporting) and going to the heart of the way in which TP methods and systems work.

In advance of the changes, MNEs can be planning in anticipation by reviewing their existing structures and considering adaptations of their TP methodologies. Moreover, keeping abreast of developments will place them in a strong position to seize the opportunities that will inevitably come out of the reform. There will be inevitable gaps and frictions between domestic regimes as different countries go their own way.

We strongly encourage your attendance and very much look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, May 13th!

Best regards,

AMCHAM Taxation Committee Co-Chairs
